These are the blinky boards that NYU sent as the welcome gifts for the class of 2024. This RGB Blinky board features RGB breathing lights, PCB Art and doubles as a soldering practice kit. 1600 of these are manufactured in total. NYU is planning to have these boards manufactured for the class of 2025 and 2026 as well.

Note 1: USE FUSE SETTING 0xFE AFTER UPLOADING THE CODE (this disables the Reset pin and lets it be used as GPIO)

RGB Blinky Keychain: common questions

What microcontroller does the RGB Blinky Keychain use?

The RGB Blinky Keychain is built around the ATTINY10-TS8R, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the RGB Blinky Keychain PCB?

The RGB Blinky Keychain measures 50.8 × 49.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the RGB Blinky Keychain?

16 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RGB Blinky Keychain design files?

From the rhitvik/RGB_Blinky_Keychain repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RGB Blinky Keychain design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which rhitvik chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the RGB Blinky Keychain without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
