About the Servo controller PCB

Servo controller is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by rmingon, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 49 × 37 mm, with 29 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328PB-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LM1117S-5 and CH340C. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 6 connectors, 3 ICs, 2 diodes, 2 resistors and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, power & battery and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Custom-made dual-servo testing platform. It is designed for engineers, makers, and robotics developers who need a reliable and convenient way to drive and test two RC servos simultaneously from a PC.

This repository contains the design files, schematics, and PCB layout for a compact, custom-made dual-servo testing platform. It is designed for engineers, makers, and robotics developers who need a reliable and convenient way to drive and test two RC servos simultaneously from a PC.

This board is built around the ATmega328P microcontroller (the same MCU used in Arduino Uno), making it extremely flexible and easy to program. Communication with the host PC is handled via an onboard CH340 UART-to-USB bridge, enabling simple plug-and-play connectivity over USB.

Servo controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Servo controller use?

The Servo controller is built around the ATmega328PB-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Servo controller PCB?

The Servo controller measures 49 × 37 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Servo controller?

29 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Servo controller design files?

From the rmingon/servo-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Servo controller design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with rmingon. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Servo controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
