About the 16-IMU-FPGA-board

16-IMU-FPGA-board is an open source FPGA PCB design by S0hamJosh1, published on GitHub. It is a 6-layer board measuring 76.4 × 40.1 mm, with 81 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the LCMXO2-1200HC-6TG100C, from the FPGA family. Other key parts include the LSM6DSRXTR and LD39050PU33R. By type, the board carries 37 capacitors, 18 ICs, 9 resistors, 3 diodes and 1 fuse.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

this repository contains the schematic and routed layout for a IMU array board with 16 IMU's and a FPGA for research purposes.

A six-layer inertial-sensing platform built around sixteen STMicroelectronics LSM6DSRX six-axis IMUs and a Lattice MachXO2-1200HC FPGA. The board is intended to acquire a dense set of motion measurements with deterministic timing, assemble synchronized sixteen-sensor frames, and hand those frames to an external STM32 host for calibration, fusion, logging, and telemetry.

16-IMU-FPGA-board: common questions

What microcontroller does the 16-IMU-FPGA-board use?

The 16-IMU-FPGA-board is built around the LCMXO2-1200HC-6TG100C, from the FPGA family.

How big is the 16-IMU-FPGA-board?

The 16-IMU-FPGA-board measures 76.4 × 40.1 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 16-IMU-FPGA-board?

81 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 16-IMU-FPGA-board design files?

From the S0hamJosh1/16-IMU-FPGA-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 16-IMU-FPGA-board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with S0hamJosh1. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the 16-IMU-FPGA-board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
