About the ESP32-Garmin-Qautix5-Nautic-Sense.com PCB
ESP32-Garmin-Qautix5-Nautic-Sense.com is an open source ESP32 PCB design by Sail-Tech, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 7 components from 7 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ESP32 DevKit, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the SN65HVD230 CAN and MAX490 RS-422. By type, the board carries 3 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 resistors.
It belongs with the iot & wireless, sensors and test & measurement designs in this gallery.
From the project
Marine instrument console for the Garmin quatix 5 + ESP32 link (impersonates a BLE HR sensor; reads NMEA 0183/2000/WiFi)
Hardware for the esp32nauticsenselink/ firmware: an ESP32 DevKit reading the boat's data and bridging it to the Garmin watch over BLE.
- NMEA 2000 (CAN) via a Waveshare SN65HVD230 CAN board (3.3 V CAN transceiver with onboard 120 Ω termination + ESD protection). - NMEA 0183 via a MAX490 RS-422 module — full-duplex, so it converts both directions between the ESP32's TTL UART and the differential RS-422 bus (no direction-control pin; the MAX490 driver and receiver are always on).
