About the LazyPad-HACKPAD- PCB

LazyPad-HACKPAD- is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by SamhithPola2025, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 71.5 × 45.6 mm, with 7 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 4 switches, 2 diodes and 1 IC.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A hackpad that I made for highway/undercity, a hackathon in Hack Club.

A custom mechanical hackpad designed and built for Highway/Undercity, a Hack Club hackathon.

I created LazyPad to build a compact, personalized mechanical keypad that speeds up my workflow and helps me learn hardware design. Since Fusion360’s free trial is limited to high schoolers, I chose Onshape as a free, powerful alternative. This project helped me explore CAD design, PCB layout, soldering, and microcontroller programming.

LazyPad-HACKPAD-: common questions

What microcontroller does the LazyPad-HACKPAD- use?

The LazyPad-HACKPAD- is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the LazyPad-HACKPAD- PCB?

The LazyPad-HACKPAD- measures 71.5 × 45.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LazyPad-HACKPAD-?

7 components, from 3 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LazyPad-HACKPAD- design files?

From the SamhithPola2025/LazyPad-HACKPAD- repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LazyPad-HACKPAD- design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with SamhithPola2025. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the LazyPad-HACKPAD- without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
