About the SBK SP1 PCB

SBK SP1 is an open source PCB design by sbarabe, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 15.8 × 11.1 mm, with 13 components from 11 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 5 resistors, 4 diodes, 2 transistors, 1 connector and 1 switch.

It belongs with the power & battery and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open-source soft power switch module for learning and embedded electronics projects.

SBKSP1** is a compact, reusable soft power switch module for battery-powered and low-voltage embedded systems.

A momentary push button, maintained switch, or external control can turn the system on. Once powered, a microcontroller can assert the HOLD input to keep the system running independently of the switch state.

Version 2.0 adds an onboard start button, a dedicated external SW input, and an independent SENS output. This allows the microcontroller to continue monitoring the external switch while holding its own power on, making graceful software-controlled shutdown possible.

SBK SP1: common questions

How big is the SBK SP1 PCB?

The SBK SP1 measures 15.8 × 11.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SBK SP1?

13 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SBK SP1 design files?

From the sbarabe/SBK_SP1 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SBK SP1 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which sbarabe chose for the repository.
