About the Watering-System PCB

Watering-System is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by ScottGibb, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45.1 × 29.5 mm, with 9 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the NodeMCU_1.0_(ESP-12E), from the ESP8266 family. By type, the board carries 4 diodes, 2 transistors, 2 relays and 1 IC.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

Hardware schematics for the Outdoor ESPHome Watering System

Hardware for a watering system split across two boards, linked by a multicore cable:

- Main Board contains the controller and main watering-system circuitry. Open main-board/main-board.kicadpro. - Connector Board breaks out the multicore cable to the external connections. Open connector-board/connector-board.kicadpro.

Each folder contains a matching .kicadpro, .kicadsch, and .kicadpcb`. Use KiCad 10 to open the projects. CI currently checks and releases schematics; PCB checks and fabrication outputs are not enabled.

Watering-System: common questions

What microcontroller does the Watering-System use?

The Watering-System is built around the NodeMCU_1.0_(ESP-12E), from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Watering-System PCB?

The Watering-System measures 45.1 × 29.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Watering-System?

9 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Watering-System design files?

From the ScottGibb/Watering-System repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Watering-System design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ScottGibb. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Watering-System without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
