About the Picoamp PCB

Picoamp is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by sctanf, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 11 × 29.2 mm, with 38 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the SC0914(7), from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MAX98360AEFB+T, W25Q16JVUXIQ TR and MIC5317-3.3YMT-TR. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 6 connectors, 6 resistors, 5 ICs and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

I forgot the silkscreen for usb pins, but they should be clear from below images. 0201 components suck to work with. * intended to use with a usb-c cable, however the CC wire needs 5.1K pull-down to ground which I forgot about

firmware for the device is at https://github.com/sctanf/picoamp-2

Picoamp: common questions

What microcontroller does the Picoamp use?

The Picoamp is built around the SC0914(7), from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Picoamp PCB?

The Picoamp measures 11 × 29.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the Picoamp?

38 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Picoamp design files?

From the sctanf/picoamp-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Picoamp design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which sctanf chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Picoamp without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
