About the Nico PCB

Nico is an open source WCH CH32/CH55x PCB design by Shadow220108, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 76.1 × 21.5 mm, with 69 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the CH552G, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family. By type, the board carries 56 diodes, 8 resistors, 2 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

From the project

Ultra-compact USB dongle with a 56-LED Charlieplexed visualizer and native CH552 8051 control.

That is pretty easy, you have all the files you will need in the production folder, order the development board from any PCB fab ( I chose JLC cause its cheap and has good quality ) and BINGO! You will have it to use for any purpose you want!

LCSC BOM for the components on board is here

Nico: common questions

What microcontroller does the Nico use?

The Nico is built around the CH552G, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family.

How big is the Nico PCB?

The Nico measures 76.1 × 21.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 2 mm thick.

How many components are on the Nico?

69 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Nico design files?

From the Shadow220108/Nico repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Nico design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Shadow220108. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Nico without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug WCH CH32/CH55x firmware against it before you order a PCB.
