About the Project-Hermes PCB

Project-Hermes is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by shiva233, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 268.4 × 63.2 mm, with 8 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040-Zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 2 inductors and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Project Hermes is a handheld "console" designed for people who already own gaming PCs so they can stream their games via SteamLink so they can take it anywhere for cheap!

This might sound silly but I made Project Hermes because... I really really really want it! I want something like this to use! All the handheld consoles on the market right now are way to expensive and besides that I have two big issues with all of them:

1. I can't play on the same save file as my main computer on the handheld (without some tedious work around) 2. I already have a good pc! why should I a lot of money for a handheld to run the same games slightly worse??

Project-Hermes: common questions

What microcontroller does the Project-Hermes use?

The Project-Hermes is built around the RP2040-Zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Project-Hermes PCB?

The Project-Hermes measures 268.4 × 63.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Project-Hermes?

8 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Project-Hermes design files?

From the shiva233/Project-Hermes repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Project-Hermes design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with shiva233. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Project-Hermes without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
