About the Aegis75 PCB

Aegis75 is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by ShlokVaidya, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 349.1 × 130 mm, with 164 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family. By type, the board carries 81 switches, 81 diodes and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A custom Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, 75% Layout with a rotary encoder, using Pico 2 (VIA Enabled).

A custom 75% mechanical gaming keyboard featuring a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 microcontroller, VIA keyboard configurator support, and a rotary encoder for media control. This project combines elegant PCB design, modular mechanical construction, and open-source firmware for a fully customizable typing experience.

The HackBoard v4.0 uses a matrix-based keyboard design with a Raspberry Pi Pico W as the main controller. Each switch connects to the microcontroller through a matrix circuit, with individual SOD-123 diodes preventing ghosting and ensuring reliable key registration.

Aegis75: common questions

What microcontroller does the Aegis75 use?

The Aegis75 is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Aegis75 PCB?

The Aegis75 measures 349.1 × 130 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Aegis75?

164 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Aegis75 design files?

From the ShlokVaidya/Aegis75 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Aegis75 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ShlokVaidya chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Aegis75 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
