About the Rp-Key PCB

Rp-Key is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by shourya2007mittal-hub, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 53.4 × 12 mm, with 34 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2350A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MCP1700x-330xxTT. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 7 resistors, 6 switches, 2 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 connector.

SO I wanted to make something like YubiKey but to Enter passwords onto your online accounts or offline password ( like laptop passwords / security passwords) and the most important thing that I focused was that you could enter a password in public without anyone watching it . This add extra privacy to your workflow . So the main focus of my design was to make it small . SO I used RP2350A as micro-controller because it doesn't need an external oscillator hence it saves space on the board . Also there are 4 switches . So you could enter upto 4 different passwords as per your need . There is a…

Rp-Key: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rp-Key use?

The Rp-Key is built around the RP2350A, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Rp-Key PCB?

The Rp-Key measures 53.4 × 12 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rp-Key?

34 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rp-Key design files?

From the shourya2007mittal-hub/Rp-Key repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rp-Key design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with shourya2007mittal-hub. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rp-Key without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
