As it has very few pins So I had to use 2 Expanders one for each Split . The communication between 2 Splits happens with the USB-C to USB-C Connection. And We hade intricated per switch LEDs as well . The Split Keyboard have magnets by the side SO that we could join the split and make it a big single keyboard if we want or use it as a split. The PCB was designed on kicad and CAD was done on Fusion . firmware was written in VS-Code. It…

Split-Keyboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Split-Keyboard use?

The Split-Keyboard is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Split-Keyboard PCB?

The Split-Keyboard measures 152.8 × 96.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Split-Keyboard?

195 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Split-Keyboard design files?

From the shreejita56/Split-Keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Split-Keyboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with shreejita56. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Split-Keyboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
