About the ConveyorClock PCB

ConveyorClock is an open source Microchip SAM PCB design by SiegeLord, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a board, with 6 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-SAMD21-SMD, from the Microchip SAM family. Other key parts include the AS5600. By type, the board carries 2 ICs, 1 module, 1 battery holder and 1 diode.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A conveyor belt clock

This is a rather impractical conveyor-belt styled clock. The hour hand is reified as a conveyor belt that rotates once every 12 hours. The minute hand is a large central gear.

A geared DC motor is used to spin the minute hand which is connected to a small magnet that is picked up by the AS5600 angular sensor. The firmware implements a simple controlled to advance the rotation by about a minute each time. Additionally, two buttons on the back can be used to set the clock. A deep sleep mode is used on the MCU to conserve power. No external crystal is used, so the clock is rather inaccurate in…

ConveyorClock: common questions

What microcontroller does the ConveyorClock use?

The ConveyorClock is built around the XIAO-SAMD21-SMD, from the Microchip SAM family.

How many components are on the ConveyorClock?

6 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ConveyorClock design files?

From the SiegeLord/ConveyorClock repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ConveyorClock design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which SiegeLord chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ConveyorClock without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
