About the Batradio PCB

Batradio is an open source PCB design by SietseAchterop, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 65 × 56 mm, with 62 components from 31 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the ldln025, mcp33131, ths4521, lmh6629 and MCP4821. By type, the board carries 27 capacitors, 15 resistors, 8 ICs, 6 inductors, 3 connectors and 1 test point.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Software defined ratio on rpi zero

The goal of this project is to create a simple sdr using a rpi-zero and a simple hat. It should work to up to 150kHz, to be used as a ULF radio or bat detector.

Status: The prototype had the following error in the PCB design. Pins 1 and 8 of the U4, a ths4521, should be swapped and a 100nF capacitor to ground should be connected to pin 2. This, untested, version corrects that.

Batradio: common questions

How big is the Batradio PCB?

The Batradio measures 65 × 56 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Batradio?

62 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Batradio design files?

From the SietseAchterop/Batradio repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Batradio design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with SietseAchterop. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
