About the DPI4RPi PCB

DPI4RPi is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by so1der, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 54 × 30.7 mm, with 9 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Raspberry_Pi_4, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the LT1937ES5. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 2 capacitors, 1 IC, 1 diode, 1 inductor and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Display Parallel Interface adapter for Raspberry Pi

DPI4RPi is an adapter board designed to connect displays with a DPI (Display Parallel Interface) bus to the Raspberry Pi. This bus is often found in inexpensive displays, such as those from navigation devices, cameras, portable gaming consoles, etc.

The board has been personally tested by me with the T43P12 display.

The board includes a circuit for powering the display’s backlight, with a voltage of 36V and a current of 20 mA (approximately up to 8 series connected LEDs). WARNING: The circuit does not have an open-circuit protection, so do not connect the board without a display.

DPI4RPi: common questions

What microcontroller does the DPI4RPi use?

The DPI4RPi is built around the Raspberry_Pi_4, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the DPI4RPi PCB?

The DPI4RPi measures 54 × 30.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DPI4RPi?

9 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DPI4RPi design files?

From the so1der/DPI4RPi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DPI4RPi design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with so1der. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the DPI4RPi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
