About the Thermal spectrum PCB

Thermal spectrum is an open source STM32 PCB design by spbnick, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 74 × 47 mm, with 39 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F103C8Tx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MC74ACT373DWR, SN74HCT00DR, SN74HCT02DRG4, XC6206PxxxMR and INA180A2IDBVR. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 10 resistors, 7 ICs, 4 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the test & measurement designs in this gallery.

ZX Printer interface for a thermal printer module

Thermal Spectrum ================ Thermal Spectrum is a ZX Printer interface to a thermal printer module, for ZX Spectrum computer.

Building the firmware --------------------- First you'll need the compiler. If you're using a Debian-based Linux you can get it by installing gcc-arm-none-eabi package. Then you'll need the [libstammer][libstammer] library. Build it first, then export environment variables pointing to it:

Thermal spectrum: common questions

What microcontroller does the Thermal spectrum use?

The Thermal spectrum is built around the STM32F103C8Tx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Thermal spectrum PCB?

The Thermal spectrum measures 74 × 47 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Thermal spectrum?

39 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Thermal spectrum design files?

From the spbnick/thermal-spectrum repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Thermal spectrum design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which spbnick chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Thermal spectrum without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
