About the Transformerless power supply PCB

Transformerless power supply is an open source PCB design by Srushti-D-Hebbar, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 56.2 × 35.3 mm, with 18 components from 12 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the LM7805_TO220. By type, the board carries 7 diodes, 4 capacitors, 4 resistors, 2 connectors and 1 IC.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Two-layer transformerless power supply designed in KiCad, featuring AC rectification, capacitive voltage dropping, zener protection, and 5V regulation.

A compact two-layer transformerless power supply designed in KiCad. The circuit uses a capacitive dropper, full-wave bridge rectifier, zener protection, filtering, and an LM7805 linear regulator to produce a regulated 5V DC output.

The circuit accepts an AC input through a screw terminal and uses a capacitive dropper network to limit the input current before rectification. A four-diode bridge rectifier converts the AC waveform into pulsating DC, which is then filtered using electrolytic and ceramic capacitors.
