About the Backplane PCB
Backplane is an open source PCB design by stevegg, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 105.9 × 99.8 mm, with 19 components from 12 distinct parts.
Other key parts include the Max705. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 6 connectors, 1 IC, 1 crystal, 1 switch and 1 diode.
It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.
From the project
Single Board 68k Computer
This is my extremely simple 68000 single board computer. It has 512k of ROM and 512k of RAM.
I'm building this to learn the fundamentals of microprocessors and their use in computer systems. Modern day computers are complex and require specific supporting chip sets. These retro processors were simple and much easier to understand but in the end the principles are the same.

Backplane: common questions
How big is the Backplane PCB?
The Backplane measures 105.9 × 99.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Backplane?
19 components, from 12 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Backplane design files?
From the stevegg/Steve-68k repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Backplane design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with stevegg. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
