About the DiyBMS-CurrentShunt PCB

DiyBMS-CurrentShunt is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by stuartpittaway, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 90 × 72 mm, with 45 components from 31 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY1614-SS, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the TLP172GM, INA228, ADM2483XRW and LM5009A. By type, the board carries 16 resistors, 14 capacitors, 5 ICs, 4 connectors, 3 diodes and 1 fuse.

It belongs with the power & battery and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Isolated current, voltage and SOC monitor for battery banks up to 85V

Isolated current, voltage and amp hour counting monitor for battery banks up to 85 volt.

Designed for use with the diyBMS controller, although can be operated standalone using RS485 and MODBUS

This repository contains the hardware designs, generally in KiCad format. Unless you are changing the design, you don't need to use/install KiCad, just use the premade files.

DiyBMS-CurrentShunt: common questions

What microcontroller does the DiyBMS-CurrentShunt use?

The DiyBMS-CurrentShunt is built around the ATTINY1614-SS, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the DiyBMS-CurrentShunt PCB?

The DiyBMS-CurrentShunt measures 90 × 72 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DiyBMS-CurrentShunt?

45 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DiyBMS-CurrentShunt design files?

From the stuartpittaway/diyBMS-CurrentShunt repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DiyBMS-CurrentShunt design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the DiyBMS-CurrentShunt without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
