About the LICSTER PCB

LICSTER is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by thainnos, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 68.6 × 53.3 mm, with 72 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_1pin, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the ATECC508A. By type, the board carries 52 resistors, 10 connectors, 4 transistors, 4 diodes, 1 IC and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

Setting up the PCBs for the two remote IOs is an easy two step process. First you order the PCB and the components, as described below, and then it takes some basic soldering skills to put it together. This is the most basic, cheap and fun way to do it. Yet there [alternatives][0.0], should that not appeal to you.

A possible distributor for the PCB components is mouser. Important: The amount is only for one PCB.

LICSTER: common questions

What microcontroller does the LICSTER use?

The LICSTER is built around the Arduino_1pin, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the LICSTER PCB?

The LICSTER measures 68.6 × 53.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the LICSTER?

72 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LICSTER design files?

From the thainnos/LICSTER repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LICSTER design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which thainnos chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the LICSTER without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
