Open Source Lab Power Supply

This project is to create an open source modular lab power supply. The power supply is designed to:

Provide between 0-15V @ 5A and 15-30V @ 3A Provide current limiting Voltage to be settable to within 1mV and current limit to 1mA resolution. Voltage/current readback to 1mV and 1mA with low temperature drift. Limit heat loss through the use of a pre-regulator. The pre-regulator uses an SCR and MOSFET arrangement to reduce noise (switches at a low frequency) Digitally controllable via a Raspberry PI and touch-screen interface. Multiple channels (designed for 3). Each channel is isolated and…

ModularLabPSU: common questions

What microcontroller does the ModularLabPSU use?

The ModularLabPSU is built around the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ModularLabPSU PCB?

The ModularLabPSU measures 128 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ModularLabPSU?

140 components, from 72 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ModularLabPSU design files?

From the tom-biskupic/LabPSU repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ModularLabPSU design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with tom-biskupic. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ModularLabPSU without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
