About the Attiny85-dev board

Attiny85-dev board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by tomasr8, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 44.6 × 16.6 mm, with 13 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny85-20P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 5 resistors, 4 diodes, 2 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Fully open-source attiny85 development board

- All 6 GPIOs from the attiny available (marked 0-5 which corresponds to PB0-PB5 on the attiny) - 5V output (direct from USB) - 3V3 output (via AMS1117 voltage regulator) - Power LED - Onboard LED connected to PB1 - USB-A connector

The schematic is based on the Digispark attiny85 devboard.

To learn more about electronics and PCB design and also because the Digispark boards don't have a 3V3 output. This board also uses USB-A instead of Micro USB so I don't need any extra cable to connect to my laptop.

Attiny85-dev board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Attiny85-dev board use?

The Attiny85-dev board is built around the ATtiny85-20P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Attiny85-dev board?

The Attiny85-dev board measures 44.6 × 16.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Attiny85-dev board?

13 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Attiny85-dev board design files?

From the tomasr8/attiny85-dev-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Attiny85-dev board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which tomasr8 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Attiny85-dev board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
