About the Bumwings v001 PCB

Bumwings v001 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by tubbytwins, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 369.9 × 133.2 mm, with 109 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040-Zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 54 switches and 54 diodes.

It belongs with the keyboards and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

Ergonomic keyboard PCB design that uses the Waveshare RP2040-zero board.

I used JLCPCB to build the first prototype PCBs for this version. It works nicely.

See "info.md" for more information about the background and inspiration for this keyboard design.

Bumwings v001: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bumwings v001 use?

The Bumwings v001 is built around the RP2040-Zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Bumwings v001 PCB?

The Bumwings v001 measures 369.9 × 133.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bumwings v001?

109 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bumwings v001 design files?

From the tubbytwins/bumwings-kbd repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bumwings v001 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which tubbytwins chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Bumwings v001 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
