About the MCP PCB

MCP is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by unmateria, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a board, with 16 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LM7805. By type, the board carries 9 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 diode.

From the project

MCP Server for Kicad. Make your schematics just chatting with your LLM. Tested just in Claude Desktop and Claude Code.

Design electronic schematics by talking to Claude. This is an MCP server that lets a language model draw real KiCad schematics — placing parts, wiring nets, adding power symbols and running KiCad's own electrical rules check — and hand you a .kicadsch` file you can open, edit and manufacture from.

You ask for a circuit in plain language. Claude writes a short declarative description of it and calls one tool, compileschematic`, which turns that description into a finished schematic file.

MCP: common questions

What microcontroller does the MCP use?

The MCP is built around the ATmega328, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the MCP?

16 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MCP design files?

From the unmateria/MCP-Kicad repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MCP design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the MCP without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
