About the Led wordclock PCB

Led wordclock is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Virtex7, published on GitHub. It is a board measuring 80 × 50.8 mm, with 74 components from 39 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA8-AI, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LM317 and 74HC04. By type, the board carries 31 resistors, 15 capacitors, 13 connectors, 5 diodes, 3 ICs and 3 transistors.

From the project

Atmel based Controller for a DCF sychronised "Wordclock"

Also einfach ausführen (in einem freien Verzeichnis):

git clone https://github.com/Virtex7/led-wordclock.git git clone https://github.com/Virtex7/AtmelLib

Led wordclock: common questions

What microcontroller does the Led wordclock use?

The Led wordclock is built around the ATMEGA8-AI, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Led wordclock PCB?

The Led wordclock measures 80 × 50.8 mm and is 1.6002 mm thick.

How many components are on the Led wordclock?

74 components, from 39 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Led wordclock design files?

From the Virtex7/led-wordclock repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Led wordclock design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Virtex7. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Led wordclock without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
