About the 1005-Flash-Programmer PCB

1005-Flash-Programmer is an open source PIC PCB design by wilsondr9999, published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 88.3 × 54.6 mm, with 31 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PIC16F15256-I/SP, from the PIC family. Other key parts include the L7805CV and SN74HC595NE4. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 7 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 4 diodes and 2 transistors.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Flash Programmer for SST39 Flash ROMs

This is a simple PCB, firmware, and software that can read and write binary image files to the Microchip SST39 series of flash ROMs. These flash ROMs are one of the very few flash ROMs on the market that are still active production and in DIP packages, making them a popular replacement for the difficult-to-find AT28 series of EEPROMs.

This programmer handles the SST39SF010, SST39SF020, and SST39SF040 parts (128KB, 256KB, and 512KB respectively).

1005-Flash-Programmer: common questions

What microcontroller does the 1005-Flash-Programmer use?

The 1005-Flash-Programmer is built around the PIC16F15256-I/SP, from the PIC family.

How big is the 1005-Flash-Programmer PCB?

The 1005-Flash-Programmer measures 88.3 × 54.6 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 1005-Flash-Programmer?

31 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 1005-Flash-Programmer design files?

From the wilsondr9999/1005-Flash-Programmer repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 1005-Flash-Programmer design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its AGPL-3.0 license, which wilsondr9999 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the 1005-Flash-Programmer without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
