About the Sigyn PCB

Sigyn is an open source NXP PCB design by wimblerobotics, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 96.5 × 76.2 mm, with 73 components from 36 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the BSS138, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the Teensy4.1, TCA9548APWR and CR2013-MI2120. By type, the board carries 25 connectors, 24 resistors, 16 transistors, 5 capacitors and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Sigyn Roboc

Wimble Robotics is a one-person effort to create an assistive robot for my personal use.

This is a standard ROS2 package. Build it with colcon and source the setup file.

Use rosdep to install all required dependencies:

Key dependencies include: - Nav2: Navigation stack (ros-jazzy-nav2-bringup) - Robot Localization: Sensor fusion (ros-jazzy-robot-localization) - RViz Overlays: Battery and status displays (ros-jazzy-rviz-2d-overlay-plugins) - OAK-D Camera: DepthAI ROS driver (ros-jazzy-depthai-ros) - LIDAR: LD LIDAR drivers (included in repository)

Sigyn: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sigyn use?

The Sigyn is built around the BSS138, from the NXP family.

How big is the Sigyn PCB?

The Sigyn measures 96.5 × 76.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sigyn?

73 components, from 36 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sigyn design files?

From the wimblerobotics/Sigyn repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sigyn design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which wimblerobotics chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Sigyn without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
