About the TeCoLab PCB

TeCoLab is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by ytcsc, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 95.1 × 93.8 mm, with 48 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ARDUINO_NANO_V3.X, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the DS18B20 and PC817. By type, the board carries 18 resistors, 8 test points, 6 ICs, 5 capacitors, 4 diodes and 3 transistors.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

TeCoLab stands for Temperature Control Laboratory. It is a low-cost open-source didactic framework to test the performance of several control strategies regarding temperature control.

TeCoLab stands for Temperature Control Laboratory. It is an open source platform that contains (Arduino Nano compatible) hardware, firmware (Arduino Nano) and software (Python). The purpose of this project is to provide a cheap platform to help any interested person to understand several basic concepts about control systems. This project uses a MIT License, which means that you are basically free to do anything you like with this project.

TeCoLab: common questions

What microcontroller does the TeCoLab use?

The TeCoLab is built around the ARDUINO_NANO_V3.X, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the TeCoLab PCB?

The TeCoLab measures 95.1 × 93.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the TeCoLab?

48 components, from 18 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the TeCoLab design files?

From the ytcsc/TeCoLab repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the TeCoLab design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ytcsc chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the TeCoLab without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
