About the Panel PCB

Panel is an open source Microchip SAM PCB design by 4project-co-il, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 101.4 × 69.4 mm, with 60 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the C78624, from the Microchip SAM family. Other key parts include the C295762 and C114502. By type, the board carries 21 capacitors, 17 connectors, 11 resistors, 4 diodes, 3 ICs and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Plug-n-Play SAMD21 Development Board

The PlugAndPlay system is an arduino-based environment that allows easier connections between the parts and intended to create a more "product-like" projects with permanent connections, compared to a breadboard.

PlugAndPlay parts do not require any soldering to connect. Just plug the cable to the connectors and you are ready to go. In the worst case, you might need to tighten few screws on a terminal block.

Panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Panel use?

The Panel is built around the C78624, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the Panel PCB?

The Panel measures 101.4 × 69.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Panel?

60 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Panel design files?

From the 4project-co-il/PlugAndPlay-SAMD21 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Panel design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which 4project-co-il chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
