About the Jakes-Macropad PCB

Jakes-Macropad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by aaakum4, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.8 × 82.9 mm, with 10 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 6 switches, 2 diodes, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

My personal macro-pad will primarily be used for my PC. The main purpose of this project is to learn how to create PCB's and used 3D modelling software like Fusion for stuff like this.

Assembly uses 4 M3 screws with heatset inserts.

GojoPad runs KMK firmware: - Rotary encoder adjusts volume in 5% steps, push toggles mute. - OLED cycles through four modes: uptime clock, custom label, simple graphic, and volume bar. - Keys handle media control, voice chat toggle, and OLED mode cycling. - NeoPixel LED reflects mute state (red = muted, blue = unmuted).

Jakes-Macropad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Jakes-Macropad use?

The Jakes-Macropad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Jakes-Macropad PCB?

The Jakes-Macropad measures 99.8 × 82.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Jakes-Macropad?

10 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Jakes-Macropad design files?

From the aaakum4/Jakes-Macropad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Jakes-Macropad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with aaakum4. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Jakes-Macropad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
