About the Hot hermes PCB

Hot hermes is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by adriel-babalola, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 44 × 78 mm, with 4 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 1 IC, 1 connector, 1 buzzer and 1 LED.

It belongs with the displays & leds and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

My own version of hermes

a mini temperature sensor + display for environment and room temperatures, with a buzzer that warns me when it gets above 34°C so i dont burn my food while cooking lol.

i cook a lot and my kitchen gets HOT. i wanted something small that could just sit there, show me the temperature, and scream at me (well, buzz loudly) when things get too warm. also i wanted to finally learn how I2C works and this was the perfect excuse.

Hot hermes: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hot hermes use?

The Hot hermes is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Hot hermes PCB?

The Hot hermes measures 44 × 78 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hot hermes?

4 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hot hermes design files?

From the adriel-babalola/hot-hermes repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hot hermes design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with adriel-babalola. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Hot hermes without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
