About the MiniMPE PCB

MiniMPE is an open source STM32 PCB design by adrienles, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 58.5 × 50.3 mm, with 55 components from 31 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F407VET6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6, SY6280AAC and ME6211C33M5. By type, the board carries 27 capacitors, 11 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the keyboards and audio designs in this gallery.

a sectioned small and low profile MPE MIDI keyboard

Originally inspired by the KORG nanoKeys line of ultra-compact MIDI keyboards, I wanted to design an alternative, with a few improvements:

- Standard key width - Velocity sensitivity - The nanoKeys is not velocity sensitive, as it uses rubber-dome-like keys. - RGB lighting for scale highlighting and pretty effects - Daisy-chainable design, to go beyond a 2 octave design - This will likely be done using magnetic pogo pin connectors, for an easy and durable connection. - Open Source :) ## Sub-projects ### MCU Test Board This is a 4-layer test PCB designed to test one of the chosen MCU picks…

MiniMPE: common questions

What microcontroller does the MiniMPE use?

The MiniMPE is built around the STM32F407VET6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the MiniMPE PCB?

The MiniMPE measures 58.5 × 50.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.5842 mm thick.

How many components are on the MiniMPE?

55 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MiniMPE design files?

From the adrienles/miniMPE repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MiniMPE design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with adrienles. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the MiniMPE without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
