About the Final PCB

Final is an open source PIC PCB design by aguscsc, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 86.5 × 42 mm, with 42 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PIC32MZ2048EFM144-I/PH, from the PIC family. Other key parts include the IR2184, LM7812 and TPS560200. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 10 resistors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 2 transistors and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This repository contains the development steps for the making of a Bidirectional Buck DC-DC converter

1. All drill sizes are the maximum size provided by the manufacture (as required to calculate the minimum pad size). 2. All dimensions in building footprints are the maximum (including any tolerance) as defined by the manufacturer with the exception of row pitch (which is always nominal). If only the normal sizing is provided we will input that dimension in mils, rounded to the nearest mil per our standards. 3. Slots are currently identified as entities describing the size of the slot (arcs, lines, etc.) on the board outline layer. The extremities are identified with a via at each end. These…

Final: common questions

What microcontroller does the Final use?

The Final is built around the PIC32MZ2048EFM144-I/PH, from the PIC family.

How big is the Final PCB?

The Final measures 86.5 × 42 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Final?

42 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Final design files?

From the aguscsc/Bidirectional-Buck-DC-DC-converter repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Final design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which aguscsc chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Final without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
