About the E ink display PCB

E ink display is an open source ESP32 PCB design by alexanderenrique, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 75.3 × 33.4 mm, with 10 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the SEED C3, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 5 connectors, 3 resistors, 1 transistor and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the displays & leds, iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A custom ESP32-C3-based e-ink display platform with a modular app system, BLE configuration, OTA updates, and three KiCad PCB variants. Built around the Seeed XIAO ESP32-C3 and a 2.9" tri-color (black/white/red) e-ink panel (e.g. GDEM029C90).

E ink display: common questions

What microcontroller does the E ink display use?

The E ink display is built around the SEED C3, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the E ink display PCB?

The E ink display measures 75.3 × 33.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the E ink display?

10 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the E ink display design files?

From the alexanderenrique/e-ink-display repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the E ink display design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the E ink display without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
