About the Lumentra usb midi PCB

Lumentra usb midi is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by AndreiasM5, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 8 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family. By type, the board carries 4 switches, 2 connectors, 1 module and 1 buzzer.

It belongs with the audio and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Rust USB-MIDI controller for Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W with four note buttons, touchless distance control, display, and KiCad hardware files.

A compact Rust MIDI controller for Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W, combining four note buttons with touchless expression control.

Lumentra uses the RP2350's native USB interface to send MIDI to a DAW such as FL Studio. A VL53L0X distance sensor turns hand movement into MIDI CC messages, while an ST7735 display and buzzer provide local feedback.

Four note buttons, touchless expression, and a live display in the printed enclosure.

Lumentra usb midi: common questions

What microcontroller does the Lumentra usb midi use?

The Lumentra usb midi is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How many components are on the Lumentra usb midi?

8 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lumentra usb midi design files?

From the AndreiasM5/lumentra-usb-midi repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lumentra usb midi design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with AndreiasM5. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Lumentra usb midi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
