MicroDEXED touch custom PCB

This is an attempt to create a custom PCB of the MicroDEXED Touch (MDT) project to satisfy my own requirements:

- No modules, all chips should be soldered on PCB - Avoid THT components as much as possible

Warning! Work in progress. The revB is untested and unreleased yet.

- Current tested revision: revA - Current dev revision: revB

- revA - initial revision - Note: Jumpers to select MIDI IN/OUT standard should be removed, instead of them please use 0 Ohm resistors - Latest revA contains the following changes: jumpers replaced with solder jumpers - The overall display height is slightly…

Mdt chipdown: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mdt chipdown use?

The Mdt chipdown is built around the AMS1117-3.3, from the NXP family.

How big is the Mdt chipdown PCB?

The Mdt chipdown measures 94 × 79.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mdt chipdown?

61 components, from 44 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mdt chipdown design files?

From the andykarpov/mdt-chipdown repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mdt chipdown design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which andykarpov chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Mdt chipdown without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
