About the Hermes PCB

Hermes is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by anshhh1269-cmd, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 48.5 × 45.5 mm, with 7 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the LSM6DS3TR-C. By type, the board carries 2 ICs, 2 capacitors, 2 resistors and 1 connector.

It belongs with the sensors and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

A PCB with an in-built sensor to act as an accelerometer and a gyroscope

By putting a 6-axis motion sensor (accelerometer + gyroscope) and a neat little screen on a shared I2C highway, this single piece of hardware can become whatever I need it to be just by changing the code. If I'm playing a racing gamE, I can literally mount this board inside a 3D-printed steering wheel loop and physically tilt it to steer my car.

The Brain (XIAO RP2040): This is the main microcontroller. It handles the raw calculations and has built-in USB functionality. This means it can easily trick my PC into thinking it's a real keyboard, mouse, or gaming controller. The Sensor…

Hermes: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hermes use?

The Hermes is built around the XIAO RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Hermes PCB?

The Hermes measures 48.5 × 45.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hermes?

7 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hermes design files?

From the anshhh1269-cmd/Hermes repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hermes design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with anshhh1269-cmd. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Hermes without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
