About the Advanced Human Detector PCB

Advanced Human Detector is an open source ESP32 PCB design by aoishik, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 47.6 × 50 mm, with 11 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-ESP32-C3-DIP, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 1 IC, 1 transistor, 1 connector and 1 buzzer.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a human detector which uses Mmwave Sensor to detect humans.

I wanted to create a human detector using the Mmwave Sensor to detect humans and alert me when human is detected cuz some people always steals the flowers in my garden, and I want to catch them in the act.

Believe it or not, this was my second time using Fusion 360 and KiCad! I watched numerous tutorials and guides and did a kg of googling, but in the end, I'm pretty proud of the final product. I had the most struggle figuring out how to make sketches, and with the new mouse controls, it definitely took me a while to get the hang of it. Also in KiCad, I had a lot of trouble with footprints…

Advanced Human Detector: common questions

What microcontroller does the Advanced Human Detector use?

The Advanced Human Detector is built around the XIAO-ESP32-C3-DIP, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the Advanced Human Detector PCB?

The Advanced Human Detector measures 47.6 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Advanced Human Detector?

11 components, from 10 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Advanced Human Detector design files?

From the aoishik/Advanced_Human_Detector repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Advanced Human Detector design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with aoishik. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Advanced Human Detector without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
