X68KFDPi2W - Floppies drive emulator All-In-One for Sharp X68000
The design is an evolution of my previous X68KFDPico, and allows the two drives of the X68000 to be emulated both externally and internally connected. The engine of the emulator are two Raspberry Pico, one ‘normal’ to handle the special floppy signals and the other ‘W’ to emulate the floppies, SDcard image management and a simple web server to choose the disks to be inserted in the floppies. Ejection and insertion of the disks can be done via the two keys in the X68KFDPi2W or by connecting the cables of the original floppy keys (in case they are not present internally). The same for the…

X68KFDPi2W: common questions
What microcontroller does the X68KFDPi2W use?
The X68KFDPi2W is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the X68KFDPi2W PCB?
The X68KFDPi2W measures 86.3 × 106.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the X68KFDPi2W?
29 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the X68KFDPi2W design files?
From the aotta/X68KFDPi2W repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the X68KFDPi2W design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which aotta chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the X68KFDPi2W without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
