About the DSKY PCB

DSKY is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Apollo-Replica, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 169.9 × 190.9 mm, with 116 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the CH340C. By type, the board carries 41 capacitors, 35 diodes, 19 switches, 14 resistors, 5 connectors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

An affordable and easy to manufacture DSKY replica

This projects aims to create an affordable and easy to manufacture, yet as realistic as possible replica of the DSKY used in the Apollo program to interface with the Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC).

DSKY: common questions

What microcontroller does the DSKY use?

The DSKY is built around the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the DSKY PCB?

The DSKY measures 169.9 × 190.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DSKY?

116 components, from 32 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DSKY design files?

From the Apollo-Replica/DSKY repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DSKY design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the DSKY without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
