About the Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER PCB

Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by ArbazAkhtar, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 47.1 × 30.5 mm, with 25 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 24LC1025 and DS1337S_. By type, the board carries 7 resistors, 5 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 2 crystals and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

ATmega328P data logger with DS1337 RTC and 256 KB EEPROM. One KiCad schematic, two PCB layouts (2-layer and 4-layer) managed with Git branches.

An ATmega328P-based standalone data logger with a battery-backed real-time clock, 256 KB of external EEPROM, and breakout headers for external sensors.

The point of this project isn't only the board — it's the workflow. A single schematic feeds two independent PCB layouts (2-layer and 4-layer), managed with Git branches so both stackups stay in sync with one source of truth.

Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER: common questions

What microcontroller does the Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER use?

The Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER is built around the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER PCB?

The Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER measures 47.1 × 30.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER?

25 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER design files?

From the ArbazAkhtar/Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ArbazAkhtar. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Atmega328p-DATA-LOGGER without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
