About the GameboyGo PCB
GameboyGo is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by ArnaanShah, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 74 mm, with 19 components from 17 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the RASPBERRY_PI_ZERO_2_W, from the Raspberry Pi family. By type, the board carries 11 switches, 3 connectors, 2 capacitors, 2 resistors and 1 IC.
It belongs with the retro computing and audio designs in this gallery.
From the project
A handheld console for playing retro games with an interesting sliding mechanism.
A handheld console for playing retro games with an interesting sliding mechanism. The console has aspects of a Gameboy and a PSP Go, which led to the name. I made this as a part of Hackclub's Stasis program which funds custom hardware projects. I decided to make a game console because I thought it could teach me a lot of new things and allow me to explore topics I'd been interested in for a long time. It also seemed like it would be very fun, and I could continue using it after I finished the build.

GameboyGo: common questions
What microcontroller does the GameboyGo use?
The GameboyGo is built around the RASPBERRY_PI_ZERO_2_W, from the Raspberry Pi family.
How big is the GameboyGo PCB?
The GameboyGo measures 100 × 74 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the GameboyGo?
19 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the GameboyGo design files?
From the ArnaanShah/GameboyGo repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the GameboyGo design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ArnaanShah chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the GameboyGo without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
