DIY Clones done in KiCAD
You will need to build a FTDI breakout board using a FT231XQ QFN20 chip with a pinout matching the FT231XS (SSOP-20), but in a DIP-20 spacing. It is all downhill from there!

Arduino: common questions
What microcontroller does the Arduino use?
The Arduino is built around the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Arduino PCB?
The Arduino measures 68.6 × 53.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Arduino?
43 components, from 34 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Arduino design files?
From the aspro648/Arduino repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Arduino design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with aspro648. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Arduino without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
