About the ArduinoLightsaber PCB

ArduinoLightsaber is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by BamdadKh, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 25 × 100 mm, with 11 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the GY-521 and DFR0299. By type, the board carries 8 connectors, 2 ICs and 1 module.

It belongs with the displays & leds and sensors designs in this gallery.

Firmware KYBER OS 2, written from scratch for the V3 board:

- 8 blade styles: solid, feral (unstable), pulse, fire, prism (rainbow), haze (plasma), candy and flow. Each one reacts to motion: swinging speeds up its animation and heats the fast-moving tip toward white. - 4 ignition / retraction animations: sweep, spark, surge (sputtering) and bolt (a bolt races to the tip, then the blade fills back…

ArduinoLightsaber: common questions

What microcontroller does the ArduinoLightsaber use?

The ArduinoLightsaber is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ArduinoLightsaber PCB?

The ArduinoLightsaber measures 25 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ArduinoLightsaber?

11 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ArduinoLightsaber design files?

From the BamdadKh/ArduinoLightsaber repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ArduinoLightsaber design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which BamdadKh chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ArduinoLightsaber without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
