About the Hackpad PCB

Hackpad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by bartvernooij7, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 62 × 56 mm, with 7 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 5 switches, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

this is my hackpad that i created with help from the hackclub with the blueprint program

Hi, this is my Hackpad repository. I originally started making this Hackpad on Blueprint, but Blueprint has ended, so I moved over to Forge to finish. I designed the macropad for hardware monitoring and functioning as a soundboard. It features an integrated display, a rotary encoder for volume control, and 4 programmable buttons for macros (like passwords) and shortcuts (like Ctrl+C). While the screen currently displays a static photo, the software for hardware monitoring and volume control is fully functional.

Hackpad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hackpad use?

The Hackpad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Hackpad PCB?

The Hackpad measures 62 × 56 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hackpad?

7 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hackpad design files?

From the bartvernooij7/hackpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hackpad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with bartvernooij7. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Hackpad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
