About the Rtty transmitter PCB

Rtty transmitter is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by bazsimarkus, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 120 × 60 mm, with 71 components from 42 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP2221AxP, MCP4901, 25LC1024 and MCP6022. By type, the board carries 24 resistors, 19 capacitors, 7 connectors, 6 diodes, 5 ICs and 4 test points.

It belongs with the audio, usb & debug tools and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

An ATmega328P-based AM/RTTY transmitter card with USB serial control, Direct Digital Synthesis audio generation, PCM audio playback from SPI EEPROM, and a Wien bridge oscillator RF stage.

An ATmega328P-based AM/RTTY transmitter card with USB serial control, Direct Digital Synthesis audio generation, PCM audio playback from SPI EEPROM, and a Wien bridge oscillator RF stage. The board is controlled entirely through an AT command interface over a virtual COM port, and includes a companion Python control center application for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

Rtty transmitter: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rtty transmitter use?

The Rtty transmitter is built around the ATmega328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Rtty transmitter PCB?

The Rtty transmitter measures 120 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rtty transmitter?

71 components, from 42 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rtty transmitter design files?

From the bazsimarkus/rtty-transmitter repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rtty transmitter design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with bazsimarkus. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rtty transmitter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
