About the Fw16 PCB

Fw16 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by BBBSnowball, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 56.8 × 90 mm, with 38 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040-Tiny, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the ATECC608B-SSHDA. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 6 resistors, 5 connectors, 4 jumpers, 3 transistors and 3 diodes.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

E-Paper module for Framework 16

Framework Keypad uses only one of the USB slots, so we can sneak in a flex PCB and extract USB for a RP2040-tiny board in the lower half (i.e. left or right of the touchpad module).

- Flex PCB, 2 layers - PCB Thickness: 0.11 mm - Coverlay Color: Yellow - Gold: 1U - Copper: 1/3 oz (12 um) - Gold Fingers: yes, 0.3 mm - Stiffener: Polyimide, 0.225 mm

Fw16: common questions

What microcontroller does the Fw16 use?

The Fw16 is built around the RP2040-Tiny, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Fw16 PCB?

The Fw16 measures 56.8 × 90 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.069 mm thick.

How many components are on the Fw16?

38 components, from 22 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Fw16 design files?

From the BBBSnowball/fw16 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Fw16 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with BBBSnowball. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Fw16 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
