About the Switch main v5 PCB

Switch main v5 is an open source STM32 PCB design by ben5049, published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license. It is a 6-layer board measuring 93 × 50 mm, with 594 components from 85 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32H573IIKxQ, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the TVS3301DRBR, TPS26601RHFR, LMQ66430MC3RXBRQ1, TPS7B8133QDRVRQ1 and TPS2116DRL. By type, the board carries 322 capacitors, 140 resistors, 39 ICs, 26 transistors, 24 diodes and 15 inductors.

From the project

KiCad design files for the 5th iteration of my single pair Ethernet (SPE) switch. It is similar to v4 but with more ports and an RJ45 connector so an external media converter isn't needed to connect to regular Ethernet networks.

Switch main v5: common questions

What microcontroller does the Switch main v5 use?

The Switch main v5 is built around the STM32H573IIKxQ, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Switch main v5 PCB?

The Switch main v5 measures 93 × 50 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.0524 mm thick.

How many components are on the Switch main v5?

594 components, from 85 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Switch main v5 design files?

From the ben5049/switch-v5-hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Switch main v5 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its AGPL-3.0 license, which ben5049 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Switch main v5 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
