About the Central panel PCB

Central panel is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by bitsandpixels-io, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 78.7 × 74.9 mm, with 30 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Conn, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the CA56-12EWA and TM1637. By type, the board carries 14 diodes, 6 resistors, 4 capacitors, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 switches.

Spaceship-like control panel for kids, based on Arduino

This project is a spaceship-like control panel toy for kids (of all ages) allowing to:

display characters from the alphanumeric keypad on the 7-segment display turn on LEDs in the 8x8 matrix when keys are pressed on the 4x4 keypad display some patterns using the 4-color LED bar use four tactile buttons to switch modes of operation for joystick and encoder: control the LED bar control the RGB LED's color * control LEDs on the 8x8 matrix

Central panel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Central panel use?

The Central panel is built around the Arduino_Conn, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Central panel PCB?

The Central panel measures 78.7 × 74.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Central panel?

30 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Central panel design files?

From the bitsandpixels-io/kids-control-panel repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Central panel design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which bitsandpixels-io chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Central panel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
